The HTSPE Archive

HTSPE is pleased to announce that our archive of information of maps and data from over 50 years of development work can soon be searched for on our website. The work by HTSPE and its precedent HTS Development (formerly Hunting Technical Services) is a treasure trove of rare data from over 120 countries. This will be of interest to development specialists, humanitarian aid workers and organisations, social scientists, engineers, natural resources scientists, GIS and Remote Sensing specialists and all students of development. Just one example is that of Sudan. HTS retained an office in Khartoum for over 30 years and completed over 90 programmes. Our archive comprises details of all of these comprising data on many parts of the country most notably in Darfur and Kordofan. The archive comprises of numerous maps, images and photographs as well as details of society, people and the country. We are also pleased to be able to advise development workers that we have retained our collection of data and maps of Somalia a country that has for too long been off the radar screens of donors.

These are just two examples from our long history of involvement in overseas work. There are many more. Geologists will be pleased to know that we have retained many geological maps from our former sister company Hunting Geology and Geophysics (HG&G). From HG&G we have retained an archive of remote sensing data and digital maps from over 30 mapping projects.

Users who have seen what is preserved in our archive are amazed at the volume and detail of work that has been done and continues to be carried out right up to the present day. HTSPE are particularly proud of the fact that our archive comprises information and analysis compiled directly from detailed fieldwork. We anticipate users being able to access our database sometime in the spring. Interested parties are invited to contact us should they require any further information before then, or wish to check on what is available.
